As deschain has already pointed out the IQ has run the statistics and it makes no difference. The fact that some early submitted entries have won are empirical evidence of this and that should be enough to satisfy you.
Since it's been discussed (I can't even tell you how many times in the almost 8 years I've been here) and documented and statistics have been run and posted, it really doesn't warrant further discussion.
If one of your entries showed up later in the contest, it's possible many people entered after you or you didn't see your entry at first because sometimes the system doesn't show your entry in the lineup since you can't vote on it anyway.
If you rely on contest placement and not on quality of work, then always submit your entries last. It really won't help but maybe that will prove it to you.
A good entry is a good entry no matter where it falls in the lineup.
I guess it has be discussed many times before. I don't really know how it works anyway. But that is also why im asking.
I have actually never thought about it before now. I just post my entry and see what happens, and I would never rely on a contest placement hehe. How stupid would that be :p
Don't get me wrong I mostly do these contest becouse it's a good way to get better and it's fun.
And really that's the best way to look at it, it is all in fun. I can tell you from my own that I've entered both early and late in a contest (as well as in between) and the entries usually settle about where I'd expect them to.

i thing there is too many fake voting these day in worth1000 . . . . as we see some good entries not getting the right palace that the are deserving. What r u think on that?
If you are concerned with this, why did you not vote in the contest yourself?
my thoughts on that are if you want good voting results, start with the man in the mirror.
+1 to firefox .. couldn't agree more myself.
As for our friend sunilnhr here ... you will see in time that people vote on a different base. Some more experienced users will vote on the details ... and the use of different sources to achieve the WOWish in your entry... some less experienced ones will vote just on the "look" of your image .. (how good that looks and what colors u used on it).
So my advice to you is ... don't give up. Try harder and you will see that you can gain people high votes if your skills improved and your work gets really good.
I myself... most of the times get inspired from other people works in here.. no matter what their level is. Just look around you and you will see that there are many people you can get inspired or even seek help from .. in order to improve your skills.
I've wondered on some entries how they did as well as they did and figured they got there because of the idea and not so much as the final product. I also don't remeber seeing any great ones come in last. The ones I see in last place or low are there for a reason.Sad to say even when it's mine
One thing that really bothers me is when i look back at older contests and i see people that voted on awesome entries (that of course won the gold)... with 3, 2 and even 1.. that is seriously ridiculous and make me wonder. In what way do all these people vote. Not fake i would call their votes.. "WAY OFF"
Ps: i start to find right the idea a fellow worthian had quite a time ago. Users with no entries shouldn't be allowed to vote at all. They simply ruin most people's works.
I think that the site should just randomize the pictures that are getting votes. That way it doesn't matter if it was sent first or last and people will stop complaining.
Also, I like what Dark77 said

I think that's true and in my case, I'm really new to photoshop and W1k and haven't even broken a 5 yet, but I'm trying and one day I'll break a 5...then a 6...then maybe a 7. You can't get mad for not being the best right away, it takes time to get good.

Actually, no one has complained in quite a while. :)

That's a great attitude to have! Rome wasn't built in a day, right? I often tell my son the only way to get good at anything, whether it be sports, math, music or art is to practice and not be lazy about it when you do practice.
I'm sure your scores will go up in time too. Good luck and never give up! :)
True. Although to speed the process, try signing up for a mentor here: http://fxb.worth1000.com/discussions/48151/photoshop-mentoring-thread-mentors-needed
